Michael Dell is famous for being Founder and CEO of the computer company Dell Inc. – the #1 PC Provider in the United States and one of the world's leading and most profitable companies in this niche. With his US$ 13.5 billion (2010), today Dell ranks among the richest people in the world.

Even during his school years, Michael Dell proved his unbelievable trading skills. With only 12 years behind his back, he made a profit of $1000 by just selling stamps. It is hard to imagine, but he made it! Maybe it is explicable with one of Dell’s very remarkable character traits – he always knows what he wants to do and when he sets himself a target, he pursues it with full strength.

On the age of 16, Dell began to sell newspapers for Houston Post and earned even more money – enough to buy himself a BMW.

When he later attended University of Texas, he wanted to become a doctor and had no idea that one day he would own a company for billions. But exactly this institution was the starting point of his computer business. With only $1000 start-up capital, Michael Dell began to assemble computers and sell them directly to his customers. He worked under the name PC’s Limited and by the half of his freshman year he had already made a profit of over $80 000. At the age of 19 Michael decided to drop out and concentrate on his business. And that’s how it all began.

In the next four years, filled with hard work and loyalty toward the clients, PC’s Limited made a good name, associated with one of the best computer companies in the US. The year is 1988 – the company name is changed to “Dell Computer Corporation”. By 1992 it was even listed among the five hundred largest companies in the world.

"Dell Computer Corporation" became "Dell Inc." as they moved into other areas of business. Dell Inc. now has an expanding product range that includes home entertainment systems and personal devices, such as MP3 players and iPod accessories.

Michael Dell stepped down from his role as CEO at Dell Inc. in 2004 but remains the Chairman of the Board.

It is interesting to say that Michael has published his own autobiographical book, named “Direct from Dell: Strategies That Revolutionized an Industry”, that relates about his success and reveals the secret how he turned his $1000 company into a mega-corporation worth more than $100 billion.

Michael Dell is married man and a devoted husband. His family is leading an opulent life in one of the largest houses in Austin, which is reported to be the 15th largest house in the world.
