Pamela Skaist-Levy and
Gela Nash-Taylor are the
Founders of the Juicy Couture brand. They are both from Pocoima, California and started with a dream to make a line of fashion wear that looks great, is comfortable to wear and appeals to everyone’s personal lifestyle. What started as a dream has now grown into the famous and fashionable Juicy Couture brand. The duo had only $200 and a bag of t-shirts to start with. They initially started off by making casual lifestyle wardrobe in the Southern California region. Their designs grew popular and today Juicy Couture is one of the most famous clothing brands, which in fact produces also jewelry, perfumes and even pet apparel.
Although they initially catered only to the Southern California region, their fame soon spread everywhere and turned their enterprise into a world wide business. Their local business quickly turned into a global empire. They now have multiple stores all around the world spanning from New York to Los Angeles, from Tokyo to Paris, Rome and many other places. To their original collection of form fitting t-shirts, they added a broader line of products including handbags, track suits and t-shirts in pastel shades. The latest collection of Juicy Couture products includes jewelry, shoes, sun glasses, pet supplies, pet apparel and even men's wear. The Juicy Couture charm bracelet has become a very popular jewelry piece. The cute little Scottie dog has also become very famous through the perfume ads and has been added as an icon in many products’ packings.
Experts in the fashion industry seldom expected such a phenomenal growth for the company. But buyers have loved the Juicy Couture products from the beginning on and the company has been able to consistently meet their expectations. They also have been coming out with products aimed at different market segments. For instance, their Couture Couture line of products are created for more up scale clients and only sold through outlets like Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Sak's Fifth Avenue, Fred Segal, Bergdorf Goodman and a few others.
In the year 2003, the Liz Claiborne Group acquired Juicy Couture for the sum of almost $53 million and now operates as its parent company, owning 100% of the company’s stock. Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy however still have the creative control over the products of the company and are very much involved in their conception and design.
