One of the biggest worries for an infants’ mother nowadays is the
quality of the baby food, sold in the markets – if it is
healthy and organic or is it a
product of the well developed
chemical industry. It’s a fact that every mother wants the best for her child, but sometimes even buying products of the most renowned and proven brands could not be the best option. Well, guess what!
Lizzie Vann has a solution to this problem. The food quality of her company Organix brands has always been a
top priority and it has not once been awarded for its natural and organic baby food. Founded in 1992, today, almost two decades on, “Organix brands” generates an
yearly revenue of over Ј36m. But how did Lizzie actually come to the idea of starting up a business in this niche and where is her
success story rooted?
During her childhood,
Lizzie Van had been through a lot – she had serious health problems, which had to be treated with steroids. Even then, at the carefree age of 13, she wanted to be aware of what was going on with her and studied a lot about her illness and the way it should be treated. This is when she first exhibited a profound interest in nutrition. .
When she went to the University of Lancaster to study biology and ecology, she took part as volunteer in its programs, which looked deep into problems such as social justice and more exactly the rights of women.
Thanks to those kinds of campaigns she received some enviable experience and decided to make a
career as an
investment analyst. However, not everyone is born to work for a big company in a real megacity and Lizzie prooved not to be one of them. Despite of everything she didn’t like her job. Earning a lot of money didn’t give her the pleasure, which she believed she deserved. She couldn’t accept at all to spend all of her life working in an office on a big desk in a small stuffy room.
When she quit her job, she managed to find an amount of $50 000, as loans from banks and friends, to give the start of her own company, specialized in producing qualitative baby food. Fortunately, the starting capital of her new firm was enough to build the company of her dreams. She believed that the children need a special and healthy food to develop properly. And this was the first and top priority of her new established
baby food business under the name “Organix brands”.
For a short time the orders to her supermarkets have increased to 50 varieties of foods for kids. The fast growth of her company has given her courage to move on; despite all the difficulties and challenges she faced on the road to
success.
In 2008 she sold her company to
Hero foods, one of her partners, for an undeclared sum.
